We are hiring for a Finance Associate

Established in 2009, UHAI EASHRI has grown to fund civil society organising in 7 states across the greater Eastern Africa region—Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda—and we also fund, partner with, and grow mission-aligned pan-African human rights organising across the continent. We provide our community partners funding through flexible and accessible, peer-reviewed grant-making; and we complement funding with capacity support, and support for activist-led convening.


Position Summary


We are looking for a dynamic, result-oriented individual to take up the position of Finance Associate. The Finance Associate reports to the Finance Officer: Management Accounting. The position supports the finance department, to ensure compliance with UHAI EASHRI’s policies and procedures, donor partner requirements, statutory requirements and International Accounting Standards and best practices of financial management. 


The Finance Associate will provide support to the finance functions at UHAI EASHRI performing the following responsibilities:


- Financial accounting; including maintaining grant making budgets, cash-flow projections, review of grantee financial reporting, bank reconciliations and staff travel accounting.


- Financial reporting and payment processing for UHAI and hosted organisations which includes cheque processing, petty cash management, preparation of budget versus actual financial reports.


- Fixed Asset Management for UHAI and other hosted organisations. Ensure all Fixed Assets are tagged and the register is updated on a regular basis. Do a physical count of assets and prepare the fixed assets movement schedule.
